Finally, clogged downspouts can be damaging to a home’s roof and gutters.  They often times result in an overflowing gutter.  Most homes have an eave overhang, which means an overflowing gutter will not result in water entering the home, but instead the water might just damage the overhang.   However, if your home does not have an overhang, gutter overflow could result in water seeping into your home.  This means that it is critical to have clear gutters and downspouts.  Clearing clogged downspouts is fairly simple, and can be accomplished by simply removing debris from the gutter or using a short blast of water.  However, if the clogs are severe, they may require removal of the downspouts and careful cleaning.
