Andrews’ Roofer Since 1988
Andrews is about 45 minutes northwest of our Midland office, and it is the county seat and only incorporated city in Andrews County. Our crews usually head up FM 1788 to SH 176 to get there, and from Odessa it is a straight shot north on US 385. We also serve nearby areas such as Gardendale and Goldsmith, and we will head out FM 1967 toward Frankel City when a job calls for it. Roofs by Nicholas was started in Midland in 1988 by Dan Nicholas, then a one-man shop, and it has grown into a company with more than 30,000 roofs completed. If you live or run a business in Andrews, give us a call for a free inspection and a written estimate.
Hail and Wind Damage Repair in Andrews
Andrews sits out on flat, open plains, and storms here can be fierce. Spring brings the biggest hail risk, and wind is a constant companion, strong enough during storms to lift shingles, bend flashing, and pull at metal roofing. Long summers of heat and UV exposure add wear, so a roof that looks fine from the ground may have problems up close. We recommend a check after any severe storm. If you find damage, we’ll tarp or seal any exposed area as soon as it’s safe, then inspect the roof, take photos, and write an estimate you can provide to your insurer. We are happy to meet your adjuster on-site too. Phones are answered 24/7, so call whenever you need us. Comparing companies? Read

Roofing in Andrews: The Local Picture
Andrews is the Andrews County seat and the only incorporated city in the county, where US 385 crosses SH 176 (the Andrews Highway) and SH 115, about 45 minutes from our Midland office. The 2020 census counted 13,487 residents and about 5,160 homes; the median house was built in 1976. Roughly three quarters of the housing is single-family detached and about 12 percent is manufactured, with much of the older stock from the 1940s through 1960s and a newer ring of homes near Loop 1910, the city-built ring road that opened in 2013. About 77 percent of homes are owner-occupied.
Andrews has had a tornado and repeated large hail in the last few years. On March 12, 2019, an EF1 tornado with 80 to 100 mph winds crossed US 385 south of town and ran along SH 176 near Hamrick Loop, tearing roof sections off homes and rolling a manufactured home. On June 17, 2019, baseball-size hail broke vehicle windows six miles east of town. On May 24, 2022, tennis-ball hail fell five miles southwest of Andrews and golf-ball hail hit Florey and Frankel City, and 1 to 1.5 inch hail fell near town on May 1, 2024 and along FM 2371 on November 23, 2025. The city requires every roofer to be registered, requires full tear-off before a new roof goes on, and only allows standing seam metal of 26 gauge or heavier in earth-tone finishes. We follow all three on every Andrews job and cover the whole Andrews ISD area, including Florey, Frankel City and McKinney Acres.

Homes, Oilfield Shops, and Commercial Roofs in Andrews
Andrews grew up with the oil business, and oil and gas are still a big part of life in town and across the county. That means we roof more than houses here. Shop and yard buildings often have large metal roofs or low-slope sections, and we handle both, along with TPO, EPDM, and built-up systems. If your company needs proof of insurance before work starts, we can provide certificates, including workers’ comp coverage. A custom maintenance plan can help business owners catch problems early. For homes, Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are the most popular choice among our customers, and we also install standing seam metal and stone-coated steel. Churches, offices, and small businesses get the same careful approach.

“Roofs by Nicholas was recommended by our home insurance and we decided to call to setup a date to have our roof professionally looked at for repairs. Will was our guy to look at our roof. He took the photos he needed and then showed me. We got a price locked in for our repairs to be made by him. He’s been professional, very communicative, informative, and on time. Definitely recommended.”

Andrews Roofing Questions
Do you really come all the way out to Andrews?
Yes, and often. Andrews is about 45 minutes from Midland by FM 1788 and SH 176, and we have Andrews customers going back to 2019 on this page. We also serve Gardendale and Goldsmith on the Odessa side of the county, so a crew is in Andrews County most weeks.
Does Andrews require a permit to replace a roof?
Not for a straight re-roof. The City of Andrews says new roofs and re-roofs do not need a permit unless the framing or pitch changes, but the roofer must be registered with the city, the old shingles must be torn off (no second layers), and metal roofs must be standing seam, at least 26 gauge, in a factory earth-tone finish. Roofs by Nicholas is a registered contractor and we build to those rules.
What storms have hit Andrews recently?
An EF1 tornado crossed US 385 and SH 176 on March 12, 2019 and damaged homes and outbuildings. Baseball-size hail fell east of town on June 17, 2019, tennis-ball hail southwest of town on May 24, 2022, and 1 to 1.5 inch hail in 2024 and 2025. If your roof predates 2019, a free estimate is worth it.
Can you roof oilfield service shops and yard buildings in Andrews?
Yes. Standing seam and stone-coated steel for shops and yard buildings in Business Park South and the Energy Business Park, and TPO, PVC, EPDM or modified bitumen for flat commercial roofs. We provide certificates of insurance and a written scope before work starts.
What if my Andrews roof is damaged by hail on a weekend?
Call 432-520-7348; the phones are answered 24 hours a day, every day. We will get a tarp on the exposed area, photograph the damage, and write a dated estimate for your insurer. We meet the adjuster on-site if you want us there.
Which shingle is right for Andrews?
Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, for most homes. They carry the highest UL 2218 hail rating, which matters after the 2019, 2022 and 2024 storms, and many insurers discount premiums for them. We also install the city-approved standing seam metal if you prefer metal.
Do you work on manufactured homes?
Yes. About one Andrews home in eight is manufactured. We install shingle or metal roof-overs designed for manufactured homes, with the proper fastening and edge detail, and we check the roof structure first.
Can I finance a roof in Andrews, and what warranty do I get?
Financing is through Wisetack; prequalify online without affecting your credit. Every roof carries our written workmanship warranty, up to 1 year on repairs and up to 5 years on replacements, plus the manufacturer’s warranty. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor and CertainTeed ShingleMaster we can offer both manufacturers’ extended coverage.
Also serving: Gardendale, West Odessa, Odessa, Kermit, and Lamesa.
